Sing 25 Challenge
With our summer concert 'It's Our Party!' in July 18, the Sing 25 Challenge is now complete. It's been fun, has taken us to perform in different venues and we've met lots of lovely people. Read on to see what we achieved in our 25th birthday year.
In Summer 2018 it will be 25 years since Stokes Singers began! June 1993 was when our founding Musical Director, Nick Breeze, and his wife Maureen got together a group of music makers in the new town of Bradley Stoke and after a few informal rehearsals the new choir got underway. To celebrate this landmark birthday, we set ourselves the challenge of achieving 25 singing events in the run up to our summer concert on Saturday 7th July.
Here's how we did....
Event 1: BIRU
A visit to the Brain Injuries Rehabilitation Unit at Frenchay to sing with patients, their friends and families and the staff.
Event 2: Good Afternoon Choir
We joined our co-Musical Director, Sian Walters, at the first rehearsal of her new Good Afternoon choir at Yate
Event 3: Sing for Basil
Saracens Rugby Club at Cribbs Causeway was the venue for a workshop to celebrate the involvement of Basil, a former member of Stokes Singers who was also a member of the rugby club.
